Quotes

"Worship is to feel in your heart and express in some appropriate manner a humbling but delightful sense of admiring awe and astonished wonder and overpowering love in the presence of that most Ancient Mystery, that Majesty which philosophers call the first cause, but which we call our Father which art in heaven."
~Aiden Wilson Tozer

"In moral and spiritual matters, you must act immediately. Have you suddenly reached a certain place in your relationship with someone, only to find that you have anger in your heart? Confess it quickly--make it right before God. Be reconciled to that person--do it now!"

~Oswald Chambers, from My Utmost for His Highest.

"When you grow and develop the right condition inwardly, the words Jesus spoke become so clear that you are amazed you did not grasp them before. Our Lord doesn't hide these things from us, but we are not prepared to receive them until we are in the right condition in our spiritual life. The evidence of the indwelling life of Jesus within us is that His Word is becoming understandable to us."

~Oswald Chambers, from My Utmost for His Highest.

Identification with the death of Jesus Christ means identification with Him to the death of everything (in us) that was never in Him.

~Oswald Chambers, Run Today's Race from The Complete Works of Oswald Chambers

I am of the opinion that we should not be concerned about working for God until we have learned the meaning and the delight of worshiping Him.
~A.W. Tozer, Whatever Happened to Worship

What I'm saying is this: we need to cultivate a listening ear and an obedient heart. Not only are there miracles awaiting us, there are people the Lord needs us to encourage. (Isa 50:4). So today take time to wait and listen to the Holy Spirit, then purpose to obey what you sense He is telling you. See what kind of day you have.
~Francis Frangpipe

"Faith for my deliverance is not faith in God. Faith means, whether I am visibly delivered or not, I will stick to my belief that God is love. There are some things only learned in a fiery furnace.

~Oswald Chambers, in Run Today's Race from The Complete Works of Oswald Chambers

"When a person is born again, he knows that it is because he has received something as a gift from Almighty God and not because of his own decision. People may make vows and promises, and may be determined to follow through, but none of this is salvation. Salvation means that we are brought to the place where we are able to receive something from God on the authority of Jesus Christ, namely, forgiveness of sins." "

~Oswald Chambers, in Run Today's Race from The Complete Works of Oswald Chambers

Forgiveness means that I am forgiven into a newly created relationship which identifies me with God in Christ. The miracle of redemption is that God turns me, the unholy one, into the standard of Himself, the Holy One. He does this by putting into me a new nature, the nature of Jesus Christ.

~Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest

If we set our hearts on truly obeying God, we will ultimately find ourselves in a state of oneness with Him. This oneness with God will facilitate oneness with our spouse and loved ones (Mt 19:5). Finally, if we remain faithful to God’s will, the love He inspires in us will create a state of oneness with others in the body of Christ (Jn 17). Do we see this? There will be exceptions, but if we can agree with others to fully do the will of God, it will lead to oneness with those whom we love. In the Bible, this state of deep spiritual fulfillment is called Heaven.

~ Francis Frangipane, In Christ’s Image Training

"God never forces a person's will into surrender, and He never begs. He patiently waits until that person willingly yields to Him. True surrender is a matter of being 'united together [with Jesus] in the likeness of His death' (Romans 6:5) until nothing ever appeals to you that did not appeal to Him. And after you surrender--then what? Your entire life should be characterized by an eagerness to maintain unbroken fellowship and oneness with God."

~Oswald Chambers, from the My Utmost for His Highest Perpetual Calendar.

Abide in Christ, and let the child feel that to be near you is to be near Christ. Live in the power of the love and the redemption and the life of Christ; your home will be to the child the ark where Christ is known and found.
~ Andrew Murray

More important than anything in the education of a child is the teachable parent. This is one of the reasons why God created the family relationship, and is also one of its chief blessings. Without his knowing it, your child is God’s schoolmaster to bring you closer to Christ. Not only the child’s tenderness and affection call forth the love of your heart, but also his waywardness and willfulness, because they put you to the test in the school of forbearance and gentleness. See that your displeasure, your reproof, and your punishment are so marked by love that, through it all, the child is ultimately encouraged to good behavior.

~ Andrew Murray, Raising Your Child to Love God

When I pray, I often begin with this simple prayer: Holy Spirit, lead me into the presence of Jesus. Lead me to where I hear His voice. Guide me to where I am sitting at His feet, where He can correct me and, in His love, heal me.
~Francis Frangipane

Prayer is not only asking, but is an attitude of the mind which produces the atmosphere in which asking is perfectly natural.
~Oswald Chambers

Until we let go of what is not good, we will never find something that is good.  The Lesson:  good cannot begin until bad ends.  Without the ability to do endings well, we flounder, stay stuck, and fail to reach our goals and dreams.  Or worse, we remain in painful and sometimes destructive situation. When we fail to end things well, we are destined to repeat the mistakes that keep us from moving on.

~Henry Cloud, Necessary Endings

"The test of sanctification is not our talk about holiness and singing pious hymns; but, what are we like where no one sees us? with those who know us best?"

~Oswald Chambers, in Disciples Indeed from The Quotable Oswald Chambers.

"Our notion of sacrifice is the wringing out of us something we don't want to give up, full of pain and agony and distress. The Bible idea of sacrifice is that I give as a love-gift the very best thing I have."

~Oswald Chambers, in Run Today's Race from The Complete Works of Oswald Chambers.

"Faith never knows where it is being led; it knows and loves the One Who is leading. It is a life of faith, not of intelligence and reason, but a life of knowing Who is making me 'go.'"

~Oswald Chambers, in Not Knowing Whither from the Quotable Oswald Chambers.
